As companies realise the importance of protecting the environment while making profits many are looking to integrate Environmental Sustainability into the fabric of their business. This is becoming a priority for executives and is being driven by customers, investors and employees. GCX assists companies on this journey by helping them to:
- Develop an environmental policy: An environmental policy statement is the communication of the company’s policy internally within the organisation and externally to customers and suppliers. The first step on the journey towards sustainability is to create a written commitment in the form of an Environmental Policy Statement which must be signed by a senior executive and be reviewed at regular intervals.
- Development of an over-arching environmental sustainability strategy, incorporating an action plan across the business that will:
- Provide the company with a clear understanding of what sustainable development means for the company at a practical level, and will help to identify the associated business risks and opportunities. This will be achieved through:
- Conducting strategic GAP analysis for each of the business units;
- Defining in each instance the opportunities in terms of sustainable development and the risks associated with environmental compliance;
- Developing sustainability management systems;
- Developing sustainability performance indicators (KPI’s).
- Clearly define the human resources, time frame and budget required for execution.
